SPIRALS Open Archive (2021-ongoing) by PartSuspended artist collective is a flexible and open archive that supports a multivocal poetic environment that establishes a creative dialogue beyond geographical borders. SPIRALS Open Archive (SOA) presents a variety of voices and reveals unexpected connections; it brings together participants from different cultural and artistic backgrounds to establish an international community of ‘spirallists’. The idea of a flexible and open archive is in line with PartSuspended’s artistic view, as we consider the process of making work more crucial than a ‘finished’ outcome that is frozen in time. SOA invites artists and non-artists to participate and provides them with a ‘toolbox’ that encourages creative responses and opens lines of communication. SOA was initiated during Covid-19 and derived from SPIRALS project (2013-ongoing) by PartSuspended artist collective.
SOA comprises three headings for prompts that explore: memory and the personal space-time; the cityscape and its connection with landscape; and dreams and desires:

In each case we invite you to respond by any of the following methods: writing, performing, drawing, painting, taking a photograph, filming, recording your voice or sounds. Please respond in any language you wish.
SPIRALS – TIME, MEMORY, HOME
– Walk in spirals, repeat a phrase that comes to mind
– Find an object from your childhood or your holidays
– Find a space to hide
SPIRALS – SPACE, CITY, ECOLOGY
– Stand under a tree
– Look at the sky through water
– Find a piece of ground, take your shoes off, step on the soil
SPIRALS – SELF, DESIRE, DREAMS
– Look in a mirror, window or piece of glass and observe your reflection
– Stand still, close your eyes and listen
– Find a space to feel relaxed
